President - Suzanne Pickard

Having been a member of the ABWA and the Collin County Chapter since 2003, Suzanne is the "veteran" of the officer corps this year! Prior to her presidency, she has been awarded Woman of the Year honors in 2005, she was a Merit Award Winner in 2006 AND is the first ever 2nd consecutive year Merit Award Winner, winning the honors again in 2007.  Suzanne has been the chapter Webmaster and for the past three years been the editor of our newsletter, The Chapter Chatter.

Vice President - Jill Laber

Jill is the "baby" of the officer corps this year!  She has only been with the organization since March of 2007, but she has already had a huge impact on our group.  Jill graciously accepted the nod from Suzanne and stepped up to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of our former Vice President.  She was unanimously elected by the Executive Board to fill the role.  Jill is also currently the Fundraising Chair, and is busy planning chapter events to raise money for professional development, scholarships, and chapter expenses.

Treasurer - Tracey Weldon

Tracey joined the ABWA in March of 2006 and will always be remembered for her Spotlight Speech and the awesome luggage tags she made for every member!  Tracey is a dedicated member and a wizard with numbers who will keep all of us on our toes when it comes to the budget and finances! This is the first position Tracey has held with the Chapter.  Thanks again for those tags Tracey!

Secretary - Cheryl Birmley

Cheryl is another relatively new member of the organization. She has only
been with the ABWA and the Collin County Chapter since July of 2006, and she's already holding office.  What does that tell you about this woman! In her first year, she's already sponsored a member, and indelibly left her mark on the Chapter.  Cheryl served on the Hospitality Committee during her first year and made everyone feel welcome and at home. .

Executive Board

The executive board, comprised of the elected chapter officers, has general supervision of the affairs of the chapter, sets the time and place of executive board meetings, makes recommendations to the chapter membership and performs such other duties as specified in the Chapter Bylaws and Chapter Standing Rules. The president acts as chair of the board. The executive board, led by the president, is responsible for goal-setting and planning for the upcoming chapter year.

One of the board's primary objectives should be to minimize the amount of "business" reporting and planning during the monthly chapter meeting. Instead, the board should report updates and the status of initiatives by utilizing the chapter newsletter, website or email, for it is the board's function to conserve time and effort in the chapter meetings without infringing on the individual's rights and privileges.

Executive board members are assigned by the president as sponsors of specific committees. The sponsor acts as a liaison between the committee and the executive board. It is the sponsors responsibility to be informed at all times of the plans, status of initiatives and year-to-date expenses, etc. being considered by the committees she sponsors (even though she is not a voting member of the committee). She may report committee activities at board meetings as necessary.
